A reading society is an informed society, and through our work, we nurture a generation that reads, thinks and leads. Based in Kajiado, Daraja is a community-based organization dedicated to empowering children and youth from nomadic and pastoral communities in Kajiado, Samburu, Narok, Pokot and Elgeyo Marakwet. We aim to provide books, learning materials, mentorship programs and safe learning spaces that build confidence, strengthen academic performance and inspire a lifelong love for reading. Beyond academics, we aim to support learners with school uniform, sanitary supplies and build community libraries; preserving dignity, promoting equality and creating opportunities for every child to dream beyond their current circumstances.
